Butyl Gasket is a gray permanently soft sealing compound used on transverse joints in HVAC ductwork. It contains a high percentage of virgin butyl rubber to enhance its sealing properties and aging characteristics. Butyl Gasket is formulated to retain low temperature handling properties at elevated temperatures. It will adhere to most clean, dry surfaces such as steel, galvanized metal, aluminum, plastic materials, wood and concrete.
